Reading can change your heart and mind

Students receive 30 minutes per day, 4 times per week of Sonday System 1 instruction.

Written by Arlene Sonday, past president of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), this program is based on the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching reading.

Teaching children to think and feel deeply.  That is what reading should be about!  Even young students can read to discover how a text can broaden their understanding, challenge their thinking, and learn lessons to apply to their own lives.

Informational Text

We have been learning about the purpose of this text text, along with how it is organized differently than narrative text.  As we take notes of important information while reading, we have become better able to summarize text.  But that's only the beginning!  How can we share our learning with others in an interesting way that promotes our skills in creativity, responsible risk taking, creating with technology, and public speaking?

Take a look at these creations!
